Nigerian artistes win big as AFRIMA ends awards




The award ceremonies of the third edition of the Africa Music Awards came to an end on Sunday in Lagos as Nigerian artistes took the center stage.
Apart from the renowned and veteran musician, King Sunny Ade, who was presented with a special recognition award for his role in Nigerian and African music, other Nigerian artistes went home with various awards.
Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli, popularly known as Flavor, got two awards.
One as the Best Male Artist and the other for being the Best African Contemporary artist in the year under review.
Aramide also got the award for the Best Female Artist in West Africa, while Falz and Phyno got the award for the Revelation of the Year and Fan’s Favorite.

Justin Bieber tops MTV Europe awards, as Beyonce snubbed




Pop superstar Justin Bieber pipped Lady Gaga at the MTV Europe Music awards Sunday, snapping up the lion’s share as megastar Beyonce was left empty-handed.
In the high-energy show in the Dutch port of Rotterdam, the chart-topping Canadian singer’s legendary army of fans dubbed “Beliebers” helped him slay Gaga’s “monsters” to see him win three awards including for Biggest Fans.
Bieber also managed to beat off competition from Adele’s “Hello” to win Best Song for his hit “Sorry” and he pocketed the Best Canadian act as well.
Eccentric pop icon Lady Gaga, who once wore a dress made of meat, snapped up two awards, winning Best Female act and Best Look.
Neither Bieber or Lady Gaga were in Rotterdam to receive their awards.
